Interested in possibly spending two nights at the mountain lakes in October. Would the weather make it worth it or would it be overcast and rainy?

Weather can change in five minutes. We were there for parts of September and October. More chance of rain in June, more chance of cloud cover in October. Our weather was mixed, sunny or overcast on and off, but very little rain. Don't book any scenic train rides in advance.
