We are traveling to Milan in May, and then have 10 days to tour other areas. We were thinking of traveling by train from Milan to Verona, staying 2 days. Then train to Lake Garda for 3 days, then a train to Lake Como for 3 days. Is this feasible? And is there any way to add the
Bernini train onto this agenda? The day trip from Milan sounds awful because it is mostly in a bus with less than an hour visiting St. Moritz . Any advice is appreciated!
If your home base on Lake Como is Varenna, you can take the train north from there to Tirano, 1.5 hours away, to board the Bernina Express or a regional train on the same tracks. The ride to St. Moritz from there is a bit over 2 hours.
Thank you!
Also, is there enough to do to stay in the Lake Como area for 5 days, with one day being a day trip to Lake Maggiore? Then we would go to Verona for 4 days, with one day being a trip to Lake Garda. Any ideas about our timeline?
We were in Lake Como and Verona in August last summer. We spent five nights in Lake Como and three in Verona including a trip to Sirmone on Lake Garda. While we certainly found enough to occupy ourselves in Lake Como but I would have switched a day to Verona. We lost most of a day traveling from Lake Como to Verona and found we did not have as much time as we would have liked in Verona.
