Northern Italy travel-apt rentals

Is there a site that is reliable and accurate re representation and and cleanliness. We will be traveling thru No Italy for 16 days and are leaning toward 3 day apt stays vs hotel.
Thank you

Well this site has been known to make good recommendations. Where exactly (what towns) are you planning to visit? Ask us and we'll help. Also be sure to read Rick Steves' Italy guide. It's a great place to start. I like to take Rick's recommendations and then check them out on Trip Advisor. Sometimes TA leads me to a choice that works better for our situtation. For example, I don't require air conditioning in October, but most of Rick's recommendations include A/C because for summer visitors it is a must. So on TA, you may find a B&B that costs less than a RS recommendation merely because it does not have A/C. BTW, while I am a fan of apartments for longer stays, I also like B&Bs because you really connect more with at least one local, the owner. In Venice I found that a terrific advantage.

The Slow Travel website is oriented to longer term apartment stays for Italy travel. www.slowtrav.com. The most frequent recommendation on this Helpline is looking at vrbo.com for apartment rentals (Vacation Rentals by Owner).

I have used vrbo.com and homeaway.com for apartment rentals and have never been disappointed. I can recommend an apartment in Verona if you are traveling there. PM me if you would like more information.

FWIW, the RS books also have apartment recommendations. The challenge with a site like VRBO is that there's not anyone verifying what the owners post. That said, we've had good luck with finding places through them.

....and don't forget to look at Agritourisimo's (farm stays) for three day, etc. That is what we did for our trip in Tuscany, Umbria, and Sardiinia last June. All three of the Agris we stayed at had self contained apts. One even had home cooked meals. We used this site, and Trip Advsior, to find them. When we can't find Agris, we use VRBO and Homelidays.com to search for apt rentals, with excellent results.
