Couple questions: Castelrotto in mid May. Could the snow level hinder our hiking plans?
Can we expect problems finding places to stay without making reservations in Castelrotto, Varena, and Stresa around this mid May period? Thanks, Rich

rich, To begin with, you might want to delete your two duplicate Threads on this topic, before they attract any replies. It would be much better to keep everything in one Thread. Regarding your questions, I'd highly recommend pre-booking accommodations for travel in May, as that's the "spring shoulder season" and could be busy. That may be less of a concern in Castelrotto, but in Varenna and Stresa it would be a good idea to get something in place ASAP. Happy travels!
