After completing a Danube river cruise in early November, we will be sightseeing in the towns of Bolzano and Sfruz (my heritage) and other areas in that region. While driving is not our first choice, given the area we will be in we probably don't have another option for getting around. Any suggestions on places to stay and other helpful suggestions for that area?

near sfruz you can visit The Sanctuary of San Romedio and the Smeraldo lake of Fondo and its cave.

In the area i usually stay in Hotel ciclamino in salter di romeno.

Bolzano is a lovely little city. Absolutely do not miss Otzi the iceman. You can look in the face of another human from several thousand years ago! http://www.iceman.it

Bolzano is a beautiful (and pricey!) little town. Just out of town to the west is a small castle that is open for tours. Last time we were there, the owner was still giving tours herself! Take time to drive up into the Dolomites...there is good bus service but a car is much more convenient. Take the lift up onto the Seiser Alm and take a walk - some of the most spectacular views on Earth!
