Northern Italy

While the tourbooks cover much of Milan and Venice, there isn't much between those two cities that are covered in the books unless I missed it. I have to be in Solferino for a Red Cross event late June and trying to plan two weeks between Milan and Venice, with a few days in each of those cities.

Any suggestons?

The Dolomites, Lake Garda, Verona, Bologna, Parma, Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, the Piemonte-Alba, Torino, Liguria-Santa Margherita Ligure and Camogli. All are favorites of ours.
Venice to the Dolomites and Lake Garda then Verona works well. These are all wonderful places to visit with a lot of varity. You would go west of Milan to Liguria and Piemonte, but not far. Lake Maggiore is near MXP, Milan’s international airport.

I am using Rick's book to plan a northern Italy itinerary right now. Varenna (Lake Como), Verona, Padua, Ravenna, Bolzano are on my list. Watch his video on Padua, Ravenna, and Verona, which you can do for free online from this site. He also has one with Milan and Como.

To the places mentioned above add Vicenza (between Verona and Padua) and Bergamo (on a minor rail line east of Milan).
