Northern Italian Beaches

Hello,
I will be leaving Europe from Zurich in mid June. I would
like to enjoy some beach time. It looks like coming into Zurich through Milano is quicker than through a French city like Toulon or Marseilles. So I think that I should look for some beach time in Italy or France. What sounds like a better option? France, near the italian border? (menton, Cannes etc Not too far into France) or NW Italy in the Liguria area. I am afraid that the Cinque Terre would be too far and will probably go there next year. Or the Adriatic side Rimini or Ravenna. (I am thinking this may be too far also. What I want to do is have close access to Milan AND stay at a beautiful beach.

I cannot wait to hear the ideas.
Thank you,
TM

The French coast is known for its beaches, but I have not yet been to Menton. The CT are not too far from Milan, an express train gets you there in no time, but you are talking small beaches. Santa Margherita (on the way to the CT) has a beach and you could also catch a boat from there to Portofino, which also has a beach. You should ask at the info office in Milan. Milanos must go to the beach and surely would have a recommendation--could be one yet discovered by tourists. Happy travels.
