Northern Coastal Italy

My husband and I will be on a golf vacation spending 8 days in the Lake Como area September 2024. We would like to extend our trip another 4 days and are trying to stay north. We're trying to decide if we should stay along the Italian Riviera or fly to Corsica. Any suggestions or thoughts? We prefer to be off the beaten path rather than the middle of packed cities, but we always enjoy a good bar!

The Italian Riviera will be much easier. Corsica is large (too large for four days), and getting there takes a while (not sure there are flights from Milan).
In general, east of Genova is more scenic than west. It is definitely on the beaten path, but if you avoid the 5 Terre and Portofino, you should be fine regarding crowds in September. Camogli or Santa Maria Ligure are good bases, for example.

No flights from Milan to Corsica. Too much hassle to get there if you have only 4 days.. If you are golfing at the Menaggio Country Club it will also take some time to get to the closest airports. Find somewhere else closer to Como that you haven't visited before.

An Italian bar is basically a coffee shop (like Starbucks). Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but there are plenty everywhere.
