Norther Italy n(Lago di Guarda and Dolomites) road trip. Help needed

Hi !
we are planing our 28 nights road trip for july . We land and start from venice. We start from venice (2 nights), go to Croataia  (Istria, Cres, Plitvice Zagreb) for 10 nights, Slovenia for 7-8 nights. That leave us with 8-9 nights for the Northern Italy part.

We want to see : Bolzano, Trente, Dolomites (tre Cime, Cinque torri) Lago di Guarda ( Malcesine) and Verona before heading back to venice to catch our flight.

Is 8-9 nights enough ?  Is it too much ?

Any ideas of 2-3  bases that would allows us to see what we want to see ?

Is there anything we should add or remove from our destinations ?

We have kids (7 and 11) and a car.

Many thanks !

You can see Verona then to Lake Garda, west side, stay Saló, then up to Dolomites, stay Ortisei, down east side of Lake Garda( Malcesine) for a nice eight days. In Macedone stay at Il Castello with it’s own beach.

Base in Ortisei for Dolomites. You can see Bolzano on a day trip from Ortisei. I wouldn’t stay in Bolzano in July for all the tea in China. It’s a pit oven. The hottest city in Italy after Florence. I would also visit Trento on the way from Dolomites to Lake Garda. One day is enough, I wouldn’t spend more than one night. Trento is also hot down at the bottom of the Adige Valley.
Malcesine is a great base for Lake Garda. Coming from Trento you exit the A22 freeway at Rovereto Sud exit and follow the directions to Lago di Garda. Malcesine is on the Eastern side. I wouldn’t choose Salò. It’s not convenient from where you are coming from and the traffic between Salô and Desenzano is always a mess in July. I’ve based myself there once in July, not again, or at least not in July when all Germans and Dutch are driving there. Stay in Malcesine and use the boats to visit Limone and Riva.

Your stay is very short for your ambitions.
Ortisei needs at least 3 nights with a visit to Bolzano.
Malcesine would be nice for 3 nights also, with one day spent visiting the lake towns and one day up to the top of Monte Baldo.
Verona can be done in a full day, therefore a couple of nights.
I’ve already used 8 nights. One more could be in Trento (between Ortisei and Lake Garda), then you probably need one more night before your flight from VCE?

The total above is 10. If you don’t have 10, cut where you want, maybe you can do Trento on the fly without spending the night. From Ortisei to Malcesine it’s about two hours drive. Trento is half way between the two.

from you post its no clear where you are staying in venice? but if you have a car with you and want to see venice, one option for consideration ( that worked for us) is to stay in jesolo. great accomodation options ( and interesting place to visit, for a change) and we caught the local bus and ferry to venice and the islands. coming into venice by water is a nice option.
last year we were in the dolimites, it is spectacular. we stayed in alta badia ( which was nice), but there are plenty of quaint towns to choose from. make sure you leave time to drive around some of the passes and go up a cable car. like the sass pordoi

hope this helps

All places in the long Adige valley from Trento to Bolzano to Merano are very hot in summer. There is a why fruit trees and wines growing so well there. Alpini, the high mountain Italian soldiers, had a saying: "If you like living in hell, go to Trento in summer and to Feltre in winter".
