Norcia to Piano Grande

Planning to drive to Norcia from tuscany and would love to see the Piano Grande plain in the Sibillini mountains.
Anyone driven from Norcia to Piano Grande in Umbria?
Could you tell me which road to take from Norcia to drive through the Piano Grande?
Also if anyone can recommend authentic Norcian food place that will be great!

I haven't been to the Piano Grande, but I was looking into going there as well. If you're driving from Norcia, I would take SP476 / SS685 south of town and from there, follow the signs to Castelluccio di Norcia; that will take you into the Piano Grande with some nice views. Once you reach Castelluccio (shouldn't take more than an hour), if you're looking to drive through, you can continue North further into the Sibillini National Park out of Umbria and into Le Marche and once you hit SR209, then you can head back southwest in the general direction you came from (a little north of Norcia). I'm sure you can just Google the directions if you need them.

I have been to Norcia before and their food specialties are definitely truffles and pig (ham/salami/wild boar) which are great! They also have some pretty good cheeses. I remember there being a handful of food shops throughout town to pick something up if you want. In terms of restaurants, there was one really good one called Grotta Azzurra (which is part of a hotel, if I remember correctly).

Anyway, enjoy your trip!

From my understanding Piano Grande sits above Norcia.
I think we will be too early to see the flowers bloom as we will be visiting around April 22. A fellow traveler sent me a recommendation for anything by the Bianconi family like Grotta Azura restaurant to be a good stop for food.

Thanks again
Happy travels
