Does anyone have a recommendation for a great place to stay for a week in April that is not mobbed with tourists? I don't have time to rent a car and find the perfect place that speaks to us.

Look at Arezzo. It's not far by train from Florence and is like a hilltown, but is on a hillside. I stopped there a few years ago and considered returning for an extended stay.
