Nonsmoking rooms

I just booked a hotel in Florence for a trip in June, then realized I didn't specify a nonsmoking room. I haven't seen anything about nonsmoking rooms on the hotel sites I've looked at. What is the likelihood that there are nonsmoking rooms in a small B&B?

I'd say it's highly likely that it is non-smoking throughout. Haven't stumbled into a smoking room but once(Slovenia, but the Russian who had been in the room wasn't supposed to smoke in it anyway) and once I told the innkeeper,he was appalled, and moved me to a different room. As here, most accomodations have moved to entirely non-smoking .

Most hotels in Europe have gone non smoking, so its not a huge worry.. there is always an off chance someone broke the rules and smoked in a room.. but its never happened to us yet( smell of smoke ).

I would suggest you write your hosts with the request. It couldn't hurt!

Suggest email your hotel and request for non-smoking room before your arrival. If you have booked with a small b&b with a smoking owner, you may be out of luck if you want a smoke free environment.

I have long resigned myself to the philosophy that, when travelling in a different country, a "non-smoking" hotel room or restaurant table may only mean that at the time the persons with whom i am sleeping (just one!) or dining do not smoke.

The last time I smelled tobacco residue in a European hotel was 2001, and that was in Bulgaria.

funpig matches my thoughts and the residue of smoke in a room was experienced more than in Bulgaria, which was VERY bad.
