Non-Smoking Venice Hotel Room Near Accademia Bridge or Dorsoduro Area?

Hi folks,

My husband and I are making our first trip to Italy and will be in Venice in early June. Would love to have recommendations for a hotel or B&B near Accademia Bridge or the Dorsoduro Area.

I have asthma/allergies and really can't handle a smoking room. How common are non-smoking hotels/rooms?

Thanks so much for any recommendations!

Very common. It is illegal to smoke in a hotel room and in the hotel.

Nothing to stop people smoking outside, though. You could ask for a higher room.

How are you on stairs.

What price range (in €€)? What amenities?

For a safe, clean, bare-bones "budget" room I recommend Hotel Tivoli. You can check it out on tripadvisor. It includes breakfast.

Hotels in Dorsoduro I suggest would be La Calcina ( canal side, we loved this place) and two where we did not stay but I liked the look of the place as we walked past: Hotel belle Article and Hotel American Dinesen.

Nigel, Sun-Baked, Lola and Emma,

Thank you so much for generously taking the time to reply! As I was writing this note to post, my husband was looking for apartments through HomeAway, and he found something! So we will be staying all three nights in the apartment and we don't need a hotel room in Venice now. But I will save your kind advice for future trips AND I know others who are visiting Venice will appreciate it, too. Thanks!

Hotel Ala - great location, and we even ran into our former Italy RS tour guide there, too!
