I made a hotel reservation four days ago at Albergo Barbara in Vernazza in Cinque Terre, using their web site. The web site indicated rooms were available and my credit card info was submitted per request to make the reservation. Since then I have not heard back from them confirming the reservation, and have sent emails twice to get them to confirm with no success. Any ideas about what to do next, or why they are not responding? The same thing has happened for a hotel in Bolzano.
In other cities, reservations and confirmations have been easy with responses right away. Thanks
When is your reservation for? Lodging in Vernazza tends to be little mom-and-pop businesses, so they might not respond until closer to your reservation. Good luck
Are you sure the responses didn't end up in your spam folder? Lots of my emails that come from Italy are marked "spam" even when they are real responses. If that doesn't resolve the problem, you should call them, since you provided your credit card. You want to know if you have a reservation or not. And if they sent you a confirmation and you didn't get it, and don't show up, you'll be charged. That happened to us once.
They might be on holiday . . . maybe Carnivale in Rio?
I can confirm the spam folder theory. That happened to me a lot planning a trip to France.
Thanks for your feedback everyone. I had already thought of the Spam folder idea, and there were no replies from the hotels there. Maybe they are on vacation, or just can't be bothered to reply. I guess if it is the later, we don't want to stay in their rooms anyway. I will try calling or maybe just send a cancellation so I do not get charged for a no show.
If anyone has stayed at Albergo Barbara in CT let me know if you think it is worth giving the proprietor a call.
