This link says that there is now (from February 1) no need for a swab test for those entering Italy from other countries in the EU.
Do you think we may expect a similar leniency in the near future for travelers from the US?

Oh
That’s great
Let’s hope changes to US travelers as well
Hmm I wonder how this applies to US tourists who first visit another EU country before entering Italy? In our case we are flying to Germany first and then taking a train into Italy. We are in Germany only for a few days. Germany does not require an antigen test for fully vaccinated travelers so I wonder if this new guideline would apply to travelers like us?
Thanks for the post. I hope this good news will eventually be extended to the U.S.
Do you think the Italians might factor in our policy for Italian visitors to the United States? Or in other words would it be advantageous if we too dropped the swab test (at least for triple vaccinated)?
Hubbie and I were discussing this the other night. I think it’s great news and is leaning in the right direction. He doesn’t think they will let us in until we do it first without a test. But….they might feel that they need the tourism more. Did people have to have the test last fall?
The test for entry started in early September
The issue I see is that US has no actual official digital record of vaccination- no “vaccine passport” per se
We all must rely on the crappy little CDC card and with the ease of falsifying this I would bet the Italian govt will want to be very cautious
Unfortunate
California has a digital record in response to the previous post. Surely other states do as well?
A few states do
Nowhere near all
The QR code issued by U.S states is unreadable by Euroepean countries.
The CDC card is accepted by Italy as proof of vaccination.
