No luck finding accommodations in Varenna. Any suggestions?

We are first time visitors to the Lakes area and thought Varenna would be the most logical place as first time visitors as we won't have a car. Every place suggested for our dates- Oct 4-8 is booked. Still waiting for a response from Divina Vita. Assuming we strike out there too, which town in Lake Como should be our 2nd choice, or what other lake would be convenient without a car?

Did you try the other two hotels mentioned in your earlier post?

Is Davina still on booking.com? That should give you an idea about availability.
I do remember that they were slow to answer, perhaps send a message on Whats App? For some reason, I've had better luck with small European hotels using What's app.

Good luck!

did you try booking.com?

I was surprised how much I liked Bellagio. I thought it would be "snooty". It didn't turn out to be. I still would prefer Varenna, especially since it is close to the train station.

The have rooms at this hotel on your dates. It’s in Menaggio, across the lake from Varenna.

I stayed there a few years ago and loved it.

Unfortunately everyplace that Rick Steves suggests within a few years becomes totally overwhelmed with tourists from the Anglophone lands.

I mentioned on your other thread that I saw lots of availability in Varenna on booking.com. Have you looked at those? It is a platform that is much-used by small guesthouses and vacation apartments in Italy.

I have, but so far not finding anything that sends me. I can book two nights at Casa 3 Archi at Albergo Milano in Varenna. It's small but could work for two nights and maybe by our dates in early October they will have a cancellation in a bigger unit. I will continue to look at booking.com. Has anyone stayed at Albergo Milano?

It looks like Booking.com has lots of options. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Beretta which is associated with Hotel Montecodeno that has openings. The Oriental Coast has openings, a high rating, and a good location by the train station. If you use Booking.com, sign up for Rakuten and get cash back which for me is 7% today (it varies on the day and maybe the account).
