Hey everybody.....I have been keeping an eye on a particular train that hadn’t been posted yet for May 2nd, when other trains were already up (I am still baffled that some were up and some weren’t) an hour later. I just went to check, and there’s are literally NO DISCOUNTS available for the 2nd leg of the trip, making an expected 40-50 euro trip 106! Could the site just be glitching (as I have checked every day for the past few weeks maybe not yesterday) or is it because it’s the day after the holiday and everybody jumped on those in one day? I can give in and take the one hour later train, but man, I was hoping for that specific train!
Katherine, please post departure and arrival stations and preferred train so our train gurus can help.
Haha that would help!
Salerno-Verona, May 2nd
The 6:11 train, vs the 7:17 train......the 7:17 train has been up for a few weeks, but the 6:11 one JUST got posted today (or yesterday). I just can’t believe the difference between the 2!
They upload data in different batches and the discounts often are loaded a day or two after the main schedule on various national railway sites. Be patient a little longer. You also probably still won't find any Italian regional trains loaded this far ahead.
Katherine,
Keep in mind that twice a year ( June & December) the train timetables change, so the new schedules will not be released until Saturday, December 8th.
You’ll find more information here:

Enjoy your trip!
Which rail website are you using?
That makes sense that they wouldn’t have the discounts loaded right away...
I WAS waiting around for the schedule update on December 9th, but as many of us were discussing, they have been putting out the trains earlier (I have purchased the other 2 train trips for our trip already) so I was just baffled why they have some up and not others, as they are all freccias.
I have been using trenitalia, as I have for years.....
Also keep in mind that available discounts vary by train date and time of day. You do not have an equal number of discount fares on all trains. Off hour trains will have more discount fares than high demand times and trains. And no discount on any Regional trains.
I was honestly just trying to figure out if they would release a train WITHOUT discounts, as I couldn’t think of a reason that a train that has been available for WEEKS hasn’t sold out on the discounts, but a more inconvenient time that JUST got put up today would have the discounts sold out within HOURS.
I guess we will wait and see!
Katherine, even discounted fares rarely sell out, unless on a very popular route in an extremely busy date.
All other days, discounted rates can be found even for trains on the same day, so if you're not seeing a discount it's either because it hasn't been released yet, or because that particular train won't have a discount at that time.
Yay! They are up! (So 60 euro instead of 106 euro haha)
Maybe I just need to learn to have more patience :)
