No Chef Boyardee in Italy?

Can it be true? I thought he was Italian. And I hear you can't get those little tiny hot dogs in a can in Austria. Why else are they called Vienna sausages?

Are we to be hit by the root beer troll every 6 months?

I have never before heard about things truly not being available in Italy like that. I assumed the ever-presence of Coke was some corner on the market that they had or something. It never occurred to me that there truly was no other choice, or why that would be. I thought it was an interesting fact!
There IS Chef Boyardee in Italy; at least, there are two cans of it. I took two cans of Spaghetti-Os to my Italian friend who used to live in the U.S., but has since moved back home. He'd stated while living here that he had seen them and wondered who would be so desperate that they'd eat such a horrible thing. So naturally I took him some, stashed in some of his other belongings I took to him. He showed them to his mother who stated "It is sacreligious to put pasta in a can!" haha!!

I remember in the 70's when my parents hosted a Belgian exchange student for a year. He was from near Brussels and had never seen brussels sprouts before.

When he arrived in America, he spent a night in a Chicago hotel before flying on to us. He said that night he went to the vending machine down the hall and saw "root beer". He got so excited to discover that America has beer in vending machines. What a great country! He bought one, took a big drink, and you can imagine his reaction.
