Yes, last October I did just that. Lots of others people walking and a Trevi and other spots at dusk and at dark, so you won’t be isolated and exposed.

Just look twice before crossing streets. and on any uneven cobblestones, stepping off curbs, or other places where footing might not be totally smooth and level.

After dark is a great time to walk Rome. Lots of monuments, fountains, bridges, churches, etc. are attractively lit, and lots of people will be out and about. We never worried about safety (although we weren't out into the wee hours.)

We were just in Rome and we walked to the Trevi fountain at 11:30 pm the night we arrived. And there were tons of people there.

I think the biggest concern is getting lost. But with Goggle maps we had no trouble.

You must walk Rome at night!
The fountains and piazzas and monuments all lit up!!

RS Heart of Rome walk is a perfect night stroll

As long as you’re not talking about 1-2 am or later you’ll have plenty of company

It's safe and it's beautiful at night. Just be careful with your valuables and be aware of your surroundings no matter what time you are out and about.

Yes. It's safer than most cities in the US and there are always lots of other people out enjoying the night

The problem I had was with my footing, but if you're staying fairly close to the Trevi Fountain, you may have pristine sidewalks.
