night train from Salzburg to Italy in July

I was hoping to save some travel time and take a night train from Salzburg to Levanto (Our destination is Cinque Terre). Nightjet lists night trains until July 10th and then not again until July 28th.

I checked other options like salzburg to nearby cities-Milan, Genoa, Florence. I also check any night trains from Munich to these destinations.

It seems there are no night trains going into Italy during this 2-3 week window. Has anyone else experienced this and know the reason?

I am wondering if I should accept that a night train is not possible and work towards day travel or there a chance this could change and some night trains are added as summer gets closer?
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

I cannot comment on why night trains are not running during that period. However, I will tell you that while you may think you save travel time you are actually just swapping out having an awful night with no sleep on a train. They are not particularly restful, especially if you are a light sleeper. Also, unless you book the entire cabin (4 beds) you will have new friends sharing cabin space. Night train hack: Book the handicap cabin for solitude and often en suite bathroom.

Bahn..de shows at least 2 Nightjets on the schedule form various dates in that July period, but says they cannot be reserved. Then the “details” section has the following notations:

under “days of service” for the NJ295 from Munich to Rome:

not every day
11. until 26. Oct 2024 Fr, Sa; also 11. until 27. Jul 2024, 27., 28. Sep, 8., 9., 15., 16. Nov

And for NJ 237 from Munich to Venice:

Days of service

not every day
9. Jun until 5. Aug 2024

I checked the German to see what is says and the words are “night täglich” which is literally “not daily”.

In English, “not every day” is ambiguous; it can mean “it doesn’t run every single day, but it does run on some days” . But I am wondering if the German “nicht täglich” unambiguously means “not at all on any day”. You would have to ask a native German-speaker.
