I’ve ready about the Colosseum closing at 7p & visitors being confused about “night” tours that were cut short because of the closing time.
What are the facts & what is Rick Steve’s opinion on companies that offer a night tour at this site?
Some visitors have written reviews that they were scammed & the tours were “cancelled”, no refunds…and horror stories about their disappointment.
I’m hoping to do a night tour with my son next May, but I need to know what company I can trust.
Suggestions, please?

I can’t speak on third party companies, but the official website offers night tours every Thursday. Tickets get released 7 days in advance. My trip is upcoming so I haven’t done my tour yet but can try to remember to report back after I go next week

I’ve been reading terrible reviews about 3rd party companies who leave visitors stranded w no tour, no tickets & no explanation or refunds. It seems they sell these “tours” without the authority of the Colosseum Office & there’s no way to know if the tickets for the night tour are really going to get you in. Did I read that the Colosseum is operated by the same company as the Vatican?

Please just purchase your tickets from the official websites for the Coliseum and the Vatican…that way you will not face unexpected cancellations when 3rd party tour companies are unable to fulfill your reservation..
The Vatican and the Coliseum have totally separate ticketing websites.

Exactly, Purchasing from the official ticketing vendor for the Colosseum is the way to go but as previously noted, it's much too early for May of next year.
