Night tour of Rome..... anyone know of a company that does this ?

I haven't done this tour ("Rome by night") personally but I've seen the company recommended several times on the forums:

Some of the sightseeing buses do night tours as well, such as the one linked below. I'm personally not a fan of bus tours and don't recommend them as a rule for Rome but they would be significantly less expensive than the tours I linked above.

We love Rome at night but do all of our after-dark exploring on foot. :O)

Anyway, one cool thing we just did last month was the Forum of Augustus media show that takes place outside and projects images onto part of the ruins. Starts after dark, obvs. http://www.viaggioneifori.it/en/#augustus

Get there a little early to get a good seat in the bleachers.

Walking around Rome at night is one of those amazing pleasures too many tourists miss out on. Nothing is all that far from where you are, and even if it was there's still something interesting to see. Get a map and plot your own walking tour. The Forums and surrounding areas are great. The Piazza Navona, St. Peter's, Trevi Fountain are beyond description. And there's plenty of places to stop for gelato along the way!

I agree while Robert - while being driven around Rome at night would be fun too (particularly to see the Colosseum all lit up), you can just walk around the center of Rome. No need for a "tour" for this - locals and tourists are all walking the center, and it's all lit up, so you can't lose. The Trevi Fountain is especially nice at night.

Harold got me thinking. This will be my 16th year in Rome. I've noticed that every year I stay out later and later. There's no rush to get anywhere, there's cooler night air, there's a more relaxed feeling and everything looks different at night! I start with drinks at the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, then dinner (I really like Carlo Menta, just down the street from the Piazza). After dinner cross the Tiber and head to the Forums and Colosseum. Ease your way back to Trevi, the Pantheon, Navona, Hadrian's Tomb, St. Peter's and Campo de Fiori for a nightcap. If you have time, do the route in 2 nights. If you only have 1 night, I'd do it all! There is something magical about the Forums at night - it feels like looking back two thousand years and seeing ghosts. All the other places are no longer things to check off on your list but rather experiences that can reveal the soul of Rome's 2772 years of life.

Remember: You deserve this!

Thanks for all the advice. 2 people in our party have mobility issues so a long walking tour at the end of a long day of sightseeing would be too much. I thought it would just be nice to see some of the places at night. That Golf cart tour sounds very interesting. May be the way to go. I think my Mom would love it.

We will walk around at night but I thought this might be fun on the first night to give us an overview of what was to come.

Ah, that a couple on your party have mobility challenges is an important detail. I'd definitely look at the golf-cart tours, and especially so if you can split the cost amongst a larger group than just a couple.
