Night EBike tour of Rome

Has anyone done the nighttime Electric Bike tour of Rome? I hear a lot about golf cart tour but very little about the EBIKE tours.
Sounds fun though! Who did you use?

I generally avoid any of the bike tours in major cities. ( I have done bike tours in smaller cities in Tuscany for example). But in general from my observations that these tours are competing with heavy commercial traffic, tourist traffic and general downtown chaos of typical major tourist areas. I can't think of a more stressful situation than riding a bike in central Rome especially at night with reduced visibility. These tours typically rely on the power of having a group around you as some level of protection and I'm sure not all of it is on city streets, but I've watched a lot of close calls, the most recent in Athens a couple months ago.. Downtown traffic and Bikes just don't mix well in my opinion and I value my life too much for such things with tour foreign operators that I know nothing about.

But that is just my opinion. If you do, make sure your insurance covers you for hospitals in Italy as well as good life insurance for your survivors.

Hi,

I did the evening e-bike tour last October and had a great time. I did it the first day in Rome and found it a good way to get acquainted with the city. It was my first time visiting Italy and it was quite the experience to be zipping through the streets of Rome. If you are in moderate physical shape it should be fun, but those e-bikes go faster than you think they would.

I’ve done 2 regular (different) bike tours in Rome and both were fabulous. In fact, taking a bike tour is the first thing I do in any European city. I can’t think of any that felt any more unsafe than biking at home. Europeans seem to show respect to cyclists, probably more than drivers here. Haven’t done the night e-bike tour, though. I think as long as you are comfortable on a bike, city bike tours are great. Our next trip is to Portugal and I just booked a bike tour in Lisbon. In general, I find bike tours a great introduction to a city so I would say “Go for it!”
