Night concert at Terme Di Caracalla - where to stay?

Hi everyone,

My fiancee and I will be attending a concert this summer at Terme Di Caracalla on the last night of our honeymoon (two weeks in Italy, including time in Rome when we get to Italy the first time).

That day, we will be coming from Sorrento (probably get to Rome early afternoon). Our departure flight back to North America flies out in the early afternoon the next day.

So with the next day flight in mind, is it better to stay at Termini and take the subway down or try to stay near the concert and take the subway back to Termini the next day?

Our budget is maximum about 130 euros or 150/160 USD ($200-210 CAD).

Thanks in advance.

It is not a difficult location to get to or from. We lived on the far side of Rome from the site and took public trans to arrive but grabbed a cab back at the end of the opera. There were plenty of cabs waiting. BUT, you might find comfort in staying within walking distance in case getting a cab is challenging. I cannot give you a specific recommendation, but try www.Booking.com.

Depending on the performance you will be attending it is entirely possible that public transportation will be closed before you get out. Buses stop at midnight, operas get out past then. At Caracalla there can be lots of people lined up for a taxi. The taxi drivers know and the wait is never all that long.

Now as to where to stay. A taxi to anywhere in Rome is pretty affordable. For an early afternoon flight home it really won't matter where in Rome you decide to stay. Coming from Sorrento (OMG I Love Sorrento - best sunsets anywhere!) you probably don't want the hastle of going out to the airport and getting a hotel room. A convenient hotel to Termini would mean a more leisurely breakfast and then take a taxi (is it still a regluated price of 45 euro?) or the Leonardo Express to the airport.
