Are there shuttle transports options from Nice, FR to Rome? Have booked a flight but with a sliver of a connection, I'm looking for last minute options if things go south. Thanks.
ITA has direct flights. Are you connecting at FCO for a flight to North America?
Fastest train is 8 3/4 hours with train changes in Ventimiglia and Milano Centrale.
Google says drive time is 7 1/2 hours.
Do you mean a single shuttle service like a direct, small bus service? Since this crosses 3 countries and covers 8+ hours of driving I'm pretty sure the answer is "no".
You can chain bus trips to make this connection but train would be my choice. You would still be looking at probably 2 changes and 10 or so hours on the train but it is possible. My advice is not to miss your flight or look at follow on flights as a back up rather than ground travel for a trip this long. It is possible but it will take all day and you probably won't enjoy it very much.
Good luck,

Need more info
Flight booked from where to where? Connecting to where?
Sounds like Nice to FCO?
I doubt a shuttle exists for that distance and I doubt it will help if you already have a short connection
Thanks for the information and prompt response. I've dug into trains and busses and I agree, if I can make another flight work that's my most efficient option.
Flying is the best option because anything else is like 10 hours.
If you want to fly non stop to Rome FCO, the only options are ITA Airways or EasyJet. Otherwise there are more options if you are willing to deal with a layover, but that will greatly increase the flight time.
Wow, didn't expect so many responses, thank you! I'm flying Volotea from Caen to Nice in the morning with a 45 min. layover and then easyjet to Rome.
Hmm. That doesn't sound like a layover.
I'm flying Volotea from Caen to Nice in the morning with a 45 min. layover and then easyjet to Rome.
So 2 different airlines and therefore 2 separate tickets with a 45 minute gap, is that correct?
easyjet closes boarding 30 minutes prior to departure

I'm looking for last minute options if things go south. Thanks.
There is no "if"; things have already gone south.
Definitely time for "Plan B"
I don't think you'll make that flight. Easyjet closes the gate 30 minutes before departure, so you'll have 15 minutes to get off the plane, (take the bus to the terminal), collect and recheck bags (and if you do that, you'll also have to reclear security), and deal with any checkin snafus (low cost carriers often require US citizens to show passports at a checkin desk before you can get your boarding pass).
I would start making alternate arrangements.
Maybe if you tell us your travel date, we can check for alternatives.
We flew Easyjet
Does easyjet have a later flight you could change to?
Maybe taking a train from Caen to Paris and flying to Rome could be a simpler/easier solution.?
Generally, EasyJet has a flight at 12:30 pm every day, and 3 days a week they have a later afternoon flight. Problem is that Volotea only flies a few days a week and often late in the day.
I hope kirsten can make it work
Since this crosses 3 countries
????????
Italy is next to France, no need to go through a third country if you go the most direct way from Nice to Rome.
I mean you could always go way north and then come back down through Switzerland, or waaaay north and east and come down through Austria, or waaaay waaaay away east and cross in a westerly direction from Slovenia, but I have no idea why you would.
If, for mysterious reasons, you took the old coastal road and not the A8 highway you'd actually slowly drive through the Principality of Monaco. That would actually be a 3rd country.
The OP had no idea where and how far Nice and Rome are, but even the most "geographically challenged" US tourist would never go from Nice to Rome via Switzerland.
Just to follow up I was counting Monaco which you traverse by train. It is fair that if a shuttle drove from Nice it would skip the coastal route and not traverse Monaco (unless they were paid by time). I know Monaco barely counts but I was trying to emphasize the distance and logistics that she was trying to “shuttle” past.
I hope kirsten takes everyone’s advice to heart and finds a solution that works for her.

In my haste, I posted wrong information about this leg of my trip...I actually have a little over 2 hours to get to my easyjet flight. And, yes, transfer would be a more accurate description. So with 2 hours and it being a transfer (with collecting bags and going through security) what are the chances of making my flight?
-I'll be checking bag(s) so how much does that slow things down?
-checking bags on the easyjet app is a must, but how far in advance? I don't know if I'll need to check one or two bags until the morning of the flight.
Thank you
I'll be checking bag(s) so how much does that slow things down?
Considerably. Think about how long you wait for bags normally. If yours happen to be the last one on the carousel, could be easily 1/2 hour after landing. Now you have to exit and recheck the bags at EasyJet, then go through security again and get to the gate with at least 15 minutes before departure.
Everything hinges on your Volotea flight arriving on time. Not an automatic. Since the tickets are not linked, you are completely unprotected if you have any significant delay arriving. Back up would be buying a last minute ticket on ITA. Hopefully they have a late flight on your hidden travel date, and they have seats availble.

Have you considered the option of shipping bags independently? The only reason I think of you going this route is to save a little money, and it may end up costing you a lot more. I can only think of a quote from a former poster on this site. "When traveling and if you have a problem, you must use money like a firehose. Put out the fire!".
Two hours is a much more possible timeline but isn't an automatic.
On the plus side you are not arriving from a destination outside the EU or Schengen so you won't have to go through Immigration.
On the minus side you need to collect luggage and, I believe, transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 on the shuttle between flight companies.
Both of these add time that you don't control. If you flight arrives on time and your bags come quickly and the terminal shuttle is right there and the lines are short at the check-in for EasyJet then you should be fine. But that is a fair number of "ifs". I think the shuttle is a tram that runs pretty quickly and regularly back and forth between the terminals so that's hopefully less of a worry. Hopefully someone who is really familiar with Nice airport has a better idea of the time these exact logistics takes and confirm the need to transfer.
Good luck,

Bag drop opens 2 hours before departure and closes 40 minutes prior to departure.
You have a fighting chance with 2 hrs, but have very little wriggle room.
Good luck!
and "easyjet closes boarding 30 minutes prior to departure"
so you have 10 minutes after bag drop limit to make it onto the aircraft
The trip might involve 4 countries, if the "shuttle" decides to go through the Vatican city. LOL
