Newbies in Rome

Hi everyone, I know this is likely covered in another post, but having a hard time finding them! We will be in Rome for 3 days, 1st week of Oct. Arrive by plane, and will be departing by train (and will have large luggage since our week in Italy will be followed by Mediterranean cruise) Looking for best websites to search for a hotel/ B&B or Apt while we are there - would like to see the regular attractions, walk everywhere and would like great ambience at night! Thank you!! Ami B

Ami B, your best resource for finding Hotels are the Guidebooks, as the listings are clear & concise, and provide choices of location and price. You may be able to find a copy of the "Italy" or "Rome" Guidebooks in your local Bookstores, or you can order from this website. You could also check Trip Advisor, as it's a good place to see reviews from other travellers. Since you're arriving by plane and departing by train, I'd suggest finding something in the vicinity of Termini Station. It's perhaps not as good for "atmosphere" as areas like Trastevere but it will provide easy access to transportation, especially on the morning you depart for the ship. One Hotel that you might consider is * www.hotelaberdeen.it/inglese/hotel.htm * (cut & paste the link inside the asterisks). Happy travels!

As someone who has done six European cruise and two cruises out of Rome, you do not need large luggage. You do need to take additional clothing but not that much more. When we cruise we add ONE rolling carry on bag for both of us in addition to each of the backpack style carry on bag that we normally use. We use the Hotel Sonya when in Rome. Convenient to Termini and some nice local restaurants in that area. And walked to most of the local attractions from there.
