Do you know if they have these all over Italy as well? We're driving from Lake Como to Genoa, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Positano & Rome next week for 25 days?

Bologna has electronic warning signs, with English translations, on the main roads leading in to its ZTL.

ZTLs are very common in historic city centres and it is best to assume that there will be some sort of restrictions in place. You can check on the local municipal sites, enter the place name + ZTL and you will usually see a map and the rules.

Jean as far as the extent of something like this - I really think it is town by town, city by city. I don't even think all the ZTLs in Florence are marked like this yet. For instance there is another entrance if you are coming over the Ponte alle Grazie (very close to this entrance) from the south, but that has no light, and even though it has a camera, etc. that entrance is only for emergency and public vehicles - i.e. even if you have the permit you can not drive through that one!
