I am a lucky, lucky girl and finding myself in Venice for business for over a week at New Years. Anyone ever experienced Venice at New Years before? Ideas for wonderful things to do?

That sounds great! Another poster just sent me a message that Italian Christmas is January 6th. Does anyone know anything about the celebration of epiphany in Venice/Italy?

What happens on Jan 6th is the festival of La Befana. As with some other parts of Europe eg Spain, it is the tradition for children to receive their presents at Epiphany rather than Christmas Day.
There is a boat race along the Grand Canal on the day

If you look on You Tube you will see a number of postings from St Marks Square on New Year's Eve 2008. Also that it snowed rather heavily on the night!
