On Jan 1 there is the New Year parade. On New Years Eve there are fireworks and massive party at Circus Maximus….
As far as where to eat why not use Google Maps birdseye view to see which restaurants are close to your accommodation. Does your accommodation have rooftop seating where you could watch the fireworks?
