Just got an email from Italo Treno announcing their new through fares and link ups with the regional trains of Trenitalia and the buses of ItaBus, all on tickets issued by Italo Treno.

Kenko, they have just given Italotreno the right to sell its tickets and subsidized trains tickets in a single transaction, a privilege that Trenitalia has enjoyed for years.
There is no "consolidated train and bus ticket info", none of the 2 companies is going to show the competitor's high speed trains on its site. For that you'll always have to trust a third party app.
I wonder what will happen with transfers from a Regionale to Italotreno, will they be protected? By Italo or by the company running that Regionale?

Of course not, but it was a matter of fair competition between 2 companies both running high speed trains as a market service.
Trenitalia doesn't run Regional and Bus service because of a God-given right, anymore. They have to participate and win call for tenders in any Region for the privilege of running all subsidized Regional services.
But, since those services are subsidized, Italo has been rightly complaining for years because only Trenitalia's High Speed Division could sell high speed and regional tickets in a single transaction.
