new guide book coming?

Planning a trip #8 in October 2023. Rick's guide books are our bible for everything but for sure for hotel recommendations. With all the changes since Covid I'm wondering if there will be a new guide book published for 2023?

If you go to the book page of the specific book you're interested and click "product details" it will tell you when the next edition is expected to be published.

FYI - I’ve already pre-ordered the new Italy book from Walmart.com and it says estimated arrival at my house on Nov. 17. There is also a new Florence, preordered, which should arrive at the beginning of November.

With all the changes since Covid....

Carol, just a word of caution not to trust ANY guidebook, no matter how recent, with visiting information. By that I mean open days/hours, entry fees, visiting rules, etc. That sort of stuff can change on a dime - sometimes right after a book has gone to press - so best to check the official websites of the attractions themselves for the most current information.

I'll add that this forum is a great place for hotel recommendations. Firsthand advice from other travelers provides a wider, and possibly better, selection of accommodations to explore. As well, booking.com has been my personal go-to for accommodations, and has worked well for quite a number of other forum posters as well. LOL, I've never used the hotel section of a guidebook and we've been just fine.

PS: I see that you're not new to Rome or some other parts of Italy so none of this may be news to you, eh? :O)

I have to agree with getting advice from Rick's or any other travel book. What we have learned in the last few years is that so much of the advice is ancient, relatively speaking. You always need to go back to the site or company's website. Also, I used to pay attention to Rick's advice on hotels, but other sites such as Booking.com seem to give a much better variety for budget conscious travelers.
