with so many posts about coastal towns/beaches travelers want to go or see or both, there is so many other nice places to see in italy, wanting to stay away from crowds then stay away from these places. go someplace new (keep it to yourself) and enjoy the solitude. it's high season all year long it seems and millions want to travel to italy. do your research

So kids 9 and under are OK with umbrellas, but not a 65 year-old? And once you turn 66, it’s umbrella time again?

Punta Molentis in Villasimius in the southeast of Sardinia made headlines recently for limiting umbrellas, tents and gazebos on the beach as a measure to prevent erosion. Originally, only beach >goers over 65 or those with children under 10 were allowed to use one. Now, this has been loosened to one per family or group, but positioned only where permitted by beach attendants. Visitors are also required to pay a €10 entry fee when arriving by land and €5 by sea

I’ve been at beaches up and down the Adriatic in the past couple of weeks and there are no such restrictions anywhere, and there are plenty of kids under the age of 10 or over 65. The only fee you have to pay is if your rent an umbrella and two chairs, which can amount to 25€-30€ a day, or a little less if your hotel has an affiliation with a beach club nearby and therefore you will get that rental at a discount at the hotel.

Maybe they imposed some restrictions in some very limited overcrowded spots elsewhere, maybe on the Amalfi Coast or even the Cinque Terre where there are plenty of Americans and Northern Europeans to be plucked, but there will be plenty of other places where there will be no restrictions. There are 5000 miles of coastline in Italy, and only a few super popular places can afford to pluck peoples’ wallets before the Italians go elsewhere. Just stay away from well known places that are popular with non Italians and you will do fine. Sardinia also has more than 1000 miles of beautiful coastline, therefore they are not imposing fees or restrictions except maybe for very limited spots. Newspapers like to exaggerate. It’s just clickbait
