Neighborhoods that will be "less" crowded Easter Week in Rome?

Will be in Rome Maundy Thursday--->Easter Sunday. I know that there will be millions of tourists there, which is fine, it's part of the experience. Wondering about suggestions for interesting neighborhoods to check out that are "off the beaten path" of the major tourist sites, where we are more likely to be surrounded by locals?

I'm thinking something similar to the Canal St-Martin Neighborhood in Paris. A local hot spot, versus a tourist hot spot?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Erin, other than being at the Vatican on Easter, most of Rome is the same. I did go to Easter Mass at St. Peter's on Easter Sunday with 100k other people, and can truthfully say I loved the whole experience. I hope to do it again some day.

For a "hot spot" for younger people, Trastevere is a great neighborhood. Not exactly "off the beaten path" any more, but a fun, lively hot spot.
