Negotiations of gandola off canals vs grnd canal evening

Who spent the least negotiating a gandola for two in the eve in the side canals? And tell me about the experience and how much you spent for how long? Grazie! RE: Venice

Unless things have changed there is a set rate for gondola rides. It depends on the time length and how many people are on board but I believe it's all regulated. You may be able to get a few euros off or add a few minutes time but you won't find any "half price" deals out there. Donna

I believe the official price per gondola is set by the city and is for up to 6 people. From 08:00 to 19:00 it is 40 minutes for 80 euro with 40 euro for an additional 20 minutes. From 19:00 to 08:00 it is 100 euro and 50 euro for the extra 20 minutes. View those as base prices, as add ons like a singer atc can be extra. You may be able to pay less but you won't get as long a ride. If it is very slow, prices may be more negotiable, really busy they may be higher.

the official rate is at least 80 euros for 40 minutes. If you pay less than that your ride will be less than that. This is the rate set by the city. Donna

We were quoted 100 euro for 40 minutes from the gondolier at the Rialto bridge. We were then quoted 80 euro for 40 minutes from the gondolier at Piazza Santa Maria Formosa, which is about 5 minutes from St. Mark's Square.
