We leave on Friday
Arrived in Rome today
Just did self test and it’s negative
Yeehaw!
YAY for you! Now, don't you go picking up that critter between now and Friday, hear?
The only major site we wanted to revisit was St Peter’s
Have decided to skip, don’t want to stand in a long line just to get in where we’d probably be safer, plus it’s pretty darn hot here
I’m fine with that
We’ll be back
Just have to get thru test at the pharmacy Thursday am
Good luck on Thursday!
We tested this morning for our flight home tomorrow (Wednesday). Even though I masked indoors at all sites, on transit (as required), social distanced, and ate outdoors 95% of the time (only ate inside a couple of times due to bad weather), I was still nervous. Hearing negative was amazing and we celebrated with limoncello before heading to a leisurely outdoor lunch.
Negative official test!!
20 min, 22 euros
Christine...Yay! The best news ever!
I was pretty confident but it was still stressful
Did the test at pharmacy on SM Trastevere piazza then sat for 20 min in the basilica saying a few prayers.
Went to get results and she had a whole stack of papers, she handed one to my husband right off the top then had to rifle thru to find mine. THAT made me worry but WHEW!!
Someone here said it was like winning the lottery, I agree.
We then walked over to Campo deFiori and bought some limoncello
Thanks for the idea Melissa😀
Good luck to any others testing soon!
Christine H,
So glad to hear your test was negative. Enjoy your last night in Rome and safe flight home. We leave for Italy in September. Hoping this rule will be gone by then.
Well… both my husband and I have tested positive. We arrived home last Friday 5/13. Tested negative on Thursday, obviously.
My husband wasn’t feeling great on Mon- achy/tired, we just assumed it was jet lag and stiff new from long flight.
I started feeling crappy yesterday, woke up this am with body aches, headache, sore throat, head congestion and had a low grade fever. Just like had been hit by a bus, so bad I went right back to bed and slept all day. Got up and tested- both of us positive. Husband feels fine, no symptoms at all.
Hard to say where we got it- was my husband exposed in Rome and just wasn’t showing positive yet on Thursday? Did he give it to me once we were home?
We have never stopped wearing masks and maintain social distance everywhere since we are both immunocompromised.
We are vaccinated and double boosted with second booster 3 weeks before our trip.
Dropping masking on flights is so stupid. Sure everyone has to be negative or have a recovery letter to board but who is to say a good percentage of those people didn’t turn positive between test and boarding. I expect my husband did.
Guess COVID is not done yet. Be careful out there!
Christine,
I am sorry to hear you are ill. Take care!
OMG!!! And we thought you'd dodged the bullet!
What a sneaky sneaky little devil Covid is. So glad you were able to get back home, though. We got back home yesterday, did the Binax proctored test the day before and all 4 tested negative. We all hugged, the knot in my stomach slowly disappeared and we went to have spritz’s to celebrate and had a lovely carefree last night. I will make sure to tell my family we are not out of the woods yet. Those crowds were thick and we made sure to mask up when we felt uncomfortable. But you can get it as easily from the hotel clerk as the 20 people swarming around you.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes
I think I’m feeling a little better today
