After many hours of research on here and online, I have narrowed it down to a few towns and need your help. We will be traveling from Paris and want a relaxing stay at a cozy beach town. I understand that the beaches are rocky. These are important things to me: walk to great restaurants, beach, small town feel. We would love a town similar to Positano. We would also like to visit the CT area. Here are the towns I am thinking of: Portovenere, Tellaro, Camogli, Portofino, Lerici and Vernazza. What do you all think? Thanks so MUCH!!!!!
Portofino is a jammed up mess with nothing to do after the first hour -- if you can push your way through the crowds. Camogli and the rest of the peninsula aren't much better.
Go east. I like Portovenere best, but I enjoy poking around small harbors. My wife likes Lerici better since there's more to do. We've never been down that way except in the fall and spring. Somebody else will have better perspective of the entire eastern clump.
Thanks for your post. There are alot of towns to chose from and any help is very appreciated :)
We liked Vernazza so much we're heading back there in 2 weeks!! A wonderful small town. I agree with the previous poster about Portofino. Happy travels.
Hi Steph - I just returned from a month in my Italia and would highly suggest Vernazza -

An excellent B&B - located right on the harbor
Cinque Terre is a whole lot of fun - walking the trail - relaxing - enjoying the fabulous scenery.
The section of trail from Manarola to Riomaggiore is the Via dell'amore(lovers path) - relatively flat and mostly paved about a mile long with a cafe halfway. check out the pic.

Another choice would be Santa Margherita (around the bend from Portofino BUT- much more reasonable in it's pricing.
Ciao, Greg
Thanks for all of your posts. I will check out Vernazza and RS link to CT towns. Thanks!!!
