Hi, I've been to Rome several times but am traveling with my adult son who never has been. We have an overnight between planes from elsewhere and it gives me about 7 hours to take him into the city and show him what I can. I think there is a train but what is the easiest way (besides a cab $$$) to get him into the city and maybe to a Hop On-Hop Off bus stop or such so he can see the main things before we have to go back to the hotel at FCO? I hate to waste this opportunity to give him a little important world perspective! He can't afford to travel on his own and will probably not be back. All suggestions appreciated!!! Thanks!

Welcome
A taxi from FCO is fixed rate 55 euros
Or there is the Leonardo Express 15 euros person
Hoho bus not really useful in Rome as they can’t get close to the sights
I’d take a taxi to Colosseum, see from the outside then do the RS Heart of Rome walk starting at Campo de’ Fiori
Rome is best seen in foot
What time is your flight next am?
Might not be necessary to stay at an airport hotel
It's an early flight and I have reservations. I'm old and can't walk much but will try. Was hoping for a Hop On - Hop Off bus or similar. Or a Tour by Locals. Anything else some one can think of?
You could try a golf cart tour once you are in the city. They are expensive but get you wherever you want to go, and save time and walking. As noted above, the Hop On Hop Off buses are limited to the main streets and don't get close to the sights you want. A taxi from the airport to the city center is the fastest way to get from FCO and back. Leonardo Express train tickets for two people cost almost as much and you would still have to navigate from Termini station. Good luck!
Golf cart tour is an excellent suggestion
