I have a purchased ticket for my train trip from Florence to Rome already, with a specific train, time, and seat. Do I need to do any sort of validation of the ticket since it is not open-ended? I've never taken the train in Italy before. Thanks.
You do not need to validate a ticket for a reserved seat on the ES trains. Have a great time in Italy.
That's not just limited to the ES trains. Any ticket with an assigned seat does not need to be validated. It says that on the back in fine print.
When in doubt, validate. Takes a second and no harm in doing so.
Cool. Thanks for your help.
FWIW, you'll find that one end of the ticket has a blank section for validating.
many prepaid tickets are paper anyway if you buy them online--no need to validate these.
Chris, since you have a reservation for a specific train, time and seat you don't need to validate. It's only good for that train and if you try to use it on a different one you'll be heavily fined, validation or not. Donna
