Need to get from Venice to Ravenna for a cruise

Hello!
I saw this hasn't been asked recently. We will be in Venice for 3 days before a cruise from Ravenna. Ship sails at 7pm on a Monday. I found I can take the train (changing in Ferrarra). It leaves Venice at 10:26, gets to ravenna at 12:48. Is this the best option? Should I have a back up in case of strike? Is there time to see anything in Ravenna? How can I get to the port from the ravenna train station? Thank you for any help!

Taxi from Ravenna to the port

You would have time to see a few of the mosaic sites
There should be several earlier trains that would allow a bit more time in Ravenna

So one is a fast train and other is regional?
Have you looked at a route thru Bologna?
There are hourly trains from Bologna to Ravenna

What is the date?

If you don’t mind getting up early there is a 7:26 fast train to Bologna-arrives 8:59

Train to Ravenna would be at 9:44 ish about an hour ride

You’ll need to store your luggage in a Ravenna- pretty sure there is storage there but better check on that

If the mosaics are really of interest you might consider heading to a Ravenna in the evening and spend that 3rd night in Ravenna instead of Venice
It’s a lovely quiet town with less expensive lodging as well
A hotel there would hold your bags and call a taxi to take you to the port

You could take the 8:34 train from Venezia Mestre and be in Ravenna at 11:15. There isn't a strike every week, and never on Mondays.

You can also take the 8:05 Italotreno train from Venezia S. Lucia to Bologna, walk upstairs and transfer into the 10:06 local to Ravenna.

The next direct local to Ravenna departs from Bologna at 11:06. Regionale trains tickets are open, You can book the 10:06 train and it would be valid also for the later one.

I was using Trenitalia to look at train times. Guess I should look again and see if I can do earlier to Bologna. I already paid for the sunday night in Venice. We are traveling on May 30th to ravenna.

If you can’t get the website to offer the Bologna route just search for

Venezia S Lucia to Bologna Centrale

Then Bologna to Ravenna

Book them separately if you have to
As Dario mentions your ticket from Bologna to Ravenna is regional so can be used for any train up to 4 hours past whatever you book
