Need some help with Timing in Milan

We will be flying into Milan to arrive about 12:30 pm. We will then go to the main train station for a trip to Venice. Want to get our train tickets bought. About how long should be allow for landing, getting through customs, etc. etc. and getting to the train station? At this point we are not planning on checking any luggage. Thanks so much for the help. Karen

You should wait to buy tickets until you get there given the possibility that your flight could be cancelled or arrive late causing you to miss the train.

But we all have gambled so if you do buy train tickets buy them for trains departing to Venice after 4 pm at a price that you do not mind losing

Thanks! I was thinking that the prices are cheaper the earlier you buy...thus losing wouldn't be so bad. I'll have to double check that.

It wil take about an hour to clear customs/immigration then 1 hour drive to the train station (Milano Central), I have done this many times and your better off waiting and buying the train ticket at the station. Last time I was in Milan I decided to buy my train ticket early on the internet and figured I had a 1hr 45 min window after I got to the train station so I should be okay, well my flight sat on the tarmac at JFK for 2 hours as they fixed the oven in the galley so my wife and I ran through customs and grabbed a taxi and raced to the Milano Cenral station and made our train by 10 minutes, that was a wild trip and I decided I would not do that again!

We're flying into Milan next week, arriving at Linate at 12:20pm. We booked 4:05pm super economy tickets (well in advance for the lowest price) to Florence. Gambling (a little) that almost 4 hours will be enough time to clear immigration at Linate, get a cab to Milano Centrale and hopefully have a little time for a bite to eat before our train departs. Thankfully Linate is quite a bit closer to central Milan then Malpensa is.

I think you can buy your train tickets out of machine in the Milan train station.....do I remember this correctly? Anyone done this?
