Ciao! I am currently in Sicily, and will be dropping my car off Monday 8/26 in Messina. I fly out of Rome Saturday morning, and have the rest of the week unplanned. I would like to check out some mountain/hill towns, but am guessing that would be impossible without a car? I have never visited Calabria or southern Italy before (my great grandfather was from Soverato Marina). I’m just curious if I will be tired of the beach by then lol. And solo female who loves nature experiences, food & wine, handmade objects, etc. fwiw
Thank you so much for your input!
If you want to visit small towns, you’d definitely need a car. Perhaps consider ferrying the car from Messina and driving up to Rome , returning the car then. I’ve done this trip and really enjoyed it. But I’d make every effort to avoid driving the Amalfi coast.
