Without getting into too many details, my friend wants to go to the beach before some treatment. She is in Lugano and will drive to Genoa but now heard the beach is not the best. She is driving - any recommendations? I want her to have this be a good experience. Much appreciated.
Has she looked at Santa Margherita Liguria?
It's only about a three hour drive from Lugano, and there are several beaches between S M and Portofino. She'd then have about a 45m drive to Genoa.
Indeed, the words Genoa and beach don't go well together. There's a bit of a beach at Boccadasse, but it's only for the desperate. Otherwise, how about the world-class museums on Genoa's Strada Nuova?
Thanks so much! I have made note of your suggestions for a future trip for myself. She ended up in Genoa and stayed around there. I was surprised how much she loved Genoa and she said it wasn't as "scary" as people had posted about on other forums. Thank you for taking the time to post.
