Would appreciate some really good driving directions (planning to get a car with GPS) from Rome airport to an agriturismo outside of Montepulciano in April. Understand it is about 2.5 to 3 hours. Past history tells me it is difficult to get out of Rome. Grazie Mille- Marianna.
Just plug in telephone to car CarPlay,
Open GogleMaps or Waze
Go to destination selected.
No need for our directions. The GPS will tell you. It’s all freeway all the way from the airport to Chiusi Chianciano exit on the A1 freeway.
hey hey romano.m50
follow what roberto tells you, he's the "expert" here about italy
make sure you do have an IDP for all drivers (aaa.com/IDP) before you leave on vacation. it's mandatory! read up on the rules/laws about driving in italy: speed, ZTL zones, parking, signs. you do not want any tickets or a notice in mail when you get home. fees are expensive to pay on the spot or an envelope in the mail after you get back. do diligence
have a great time, enjoy your vacation
aloha
We are flying into Rome a few days before Easter 2026. Overnight flight arriving around noon.
( From another of OP's posts)
Many ( most?) would consider a 3 hr drive after an overnight flight to be ill-advised.
