Need New Years Dinner Recommendation (for family of 5) in Florence

Hoping someone here can help. For some reason I'm having a hard time finding a place and making a reservation.

I'm looking for a place not too upscale but better than a bistro. Walking distance from Pallazo Vecchio would be preferred. Other side of the bridge is OK an the more local the better.

I've been trying for a place called Buca Mario but have had no luck getting a response via email.

What has worked for us....we just ask at the front desk of our hotel. I always say I want a place that they would choose for themselves, not a tourist "typical Italian" restaurant. We've had good luck that way, and they've also called and made reservations for us. Easy breezy. Every place we've been directed to has been wonderful, no complaints for sure.

Il Porcospino is very good, right across from the Medici Chapels. Franco seems to manage the place and loves Americans! Buca Mario is indeed excellent. Worth the drive/ride to the neighborhood just outside Florence (in Rifredi) is Fratelli Briganti. It's "old style" Tuscan and absolutely delicious and well-priced. They are "iffy" on answering their phone, but worth a try!

Ellen:

It's New Years Eve so I'd rather not wait until the last minute and have a hard time finding a restaurant.

Joe, You might call the hotel where you are staying now and ask for a recommendation for New Year's Eve.

The Golden View is a great restaurant with a great view of the Ponte Vecchio. It is also very reasonable in price. You can google their website. Reservations are definitely needed unless you eat early.

We ate at 4 Leoni last year. We were 2 families of 4 (4 adults, 4 kids). It was our 3rd visit, and was delicious!
Note, the menus are not in English, and the staff speaks minimal English.
