We will be in Umbria later this month and want to spend two nights in or near a pleasant town that isn’t too hilly. We have already been to Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto. I love to walk around a place in the evenings enjoying a good meal and pleasant square. I loved Pienza in Tuscany.
Also would welcome recommendations for great places to lodge in the area. Thanks!
I remember Norcia as being flat. We liked PALAZZO SENECA very much. Norcia is known for good food; it's close to the Piano Grande.
Bevagna is a very pleasant city and flat in the historic center and surrounds. Lively with numerous restaurants and shops but not overly touristy.
Passignano sul Trasimento is flat in most of the town. Located on the shore of Lake Trasimento it's popular with Italian visitors and has full services and features really pretty lakeside tree-lined walks. There's also a ferry for visiting other lakeside towns.
+1000 for palazzo Seneca and Norcia as a base for travel - will return there in a heartbeat
Thank you for your suggestions!
Take a look at Todi. There is a hill up from the elevator from the parking lot but after that it's pretty flat.
