Need hotel recommendation in Milan for early June

Hello. We'll be in Milan for two nights in early June. Flying into MPX. We'll arrive in the late morning. Once we get down into the city, we'll want to shower and change, so we probably won't get started in until the late afternoon. Want to get to Duomo around the time of last admission, which should be around 6:00 p.m.

The next day, we want to go to Santa Maria delle Grazie to see the Last Supper painting, and then perhaps to Sforzo Castle. I don't now if we'll do anything else.

The following day, we'll pick up the rental car at Linate Airport and drive to our next destination in South Tyrol.

We would like to stay at a hotel where we'll have convenient access to these attractions, as well as Linate. We'll probably rely on a mix of the metro and taxis to get around.

Ideally, we'd like to stay under $250 a night, and preferably under $200 if that's even realistic. It'd also be a plus if the hotel had a decent restaurant.

Any suggestions based on your experience? Thank you.

We like the Hotel Berna, which is a block from the central train station. They have a great breakfast, service, and happy hours. Hotel Berna is part of many rewards programs, if you have any credit card points/miles. Have a great trip!

Has anyone stayed at Duomo Hotel and Apartments? If not, what do you think about the area for someone who's arriving from MPX, plans to visit the above attractions, and must get to Linate after checking out?

Another vote for the hotel ChristineL mentioned above. That is our go to hotel in Milan especially with the sites you want to see. We have walked to all of them from the hotel. Also, from MXP you go to the Cadona station and grab a quick taxi to the hotel. And it’s about a 20 minute taxi drive to Linate. Great breakfast, wonderful staff and even in the middle of activity, it’s very quiet and peaceful. And a great gelato place about 2 blocks away, although expect a line.

Another vote for Hotel Gran Duca di York. We stayed there last May, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Beautiful lobby, our room was a comfortable size, the included breakfast buffet is delicious, and the location is very central and convenient.

Thanks for the recommendation, but Gran Duca is booked.

Another vote for Hotel Berna, I was there 6 days last spring. You’d have to research the Linate connection, but it was easy to get to the bigger airport from this hotel.

I appreciate the rec, but Hotel Berna is not very centrally located. Also, some people have reported that the area is a little sketch.

The Square Milano Duomo has some rooms that are decently priced right now: under $400. Has anyone stayed there? If so, what did you think? Genius Hotel Downtown is much more affordable, about $250 a night. But overall The Square has better reviews. It also has a rooftop restaurant and room service, which is convenient.

We still plan to visit Duomo, Last Supper painting (at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning), Sforzo, and Pinoteca Ambrosiana. When we check out we have to get to Linate. Apart from that, will probably just walk around and stumble on whatever we stumble on. Based on this limited itinerary, do you have a preference for The Square or Genuis in terms of location? We are fine with taking the taxi or the metro. Reasonable walks are okay too.

The Luxury Hotel Cardona is a 10 minute walk from The Last Supper and a 20 minute walk from the Duomo. It is right by Cardona Station where one of the 2 Malpensa express lines arrives. When I was booking, it was cheaper than other conveniently located options available at the time. It has about 10 rooms on a single floor of a large building so not a freestanding hotel. Reception desk closes at 9 or 10 pm -- not 24 hours. No breakfast option but coffee and tea in room. I found it very convenient and adequate for 2 nights, though nothing "luxury" that I could see, except maybe the bathroom.

Thanks for the recommendation. Cadorna seems comparable to Genius, though the latter appears to be more centrally located, which is our preference. I'm inclined to stick with Genius or The Square for now, though I'm open to other options under $400 a night.

Recently stayed at Antica Locanda Leonardo for the 2nd time and loved it again! It is very close to the Last Supper-just up the block. It is also an easy walk to Sforzo and the Brera. The breakfast and the coffee-excellent. There is an elevator. The Corso Magenta is a lovely tree lined neighborhood for evening strolls. We arrived at Linate and the blue line M4 takes you direct to a stop near Antica.

I take it that Antica Locanda Leonardo doesn't have a restaurant. Not that that's a deal-breaker.
