Need Hotel in Piazza Navona area

I am having trouble still finding a hotel. If you have any recommendations for this specific area, I'd love to hear them. This is the area I'd like to be in. Thanks!

It might be helpful to know who you've tried, so you don't get repeat recommendations. Also, do you have the RS Italy or Rome books for those recommendations?

Mary, there are many, many hotels and B&B's in the Piazza Navona Area... and if you stay in the Pantheon area, it's just a short walk to Piazza Navona - so there are even more options. Without knowing your budget, time of year, or number of folks, it's hard to make a specific recommendation. The hardest part might be narrowing down your options. Like Michael, I'm not sure which hotels you've considered but you might look at these two lists: The Best Hotels and B&B's near Piazza Navona and the The Best Hotels and B&B's in the Pantheon Area. These articles contain the top-ranked hotels by venere.com and booking.com guests. In order to post a comment (and thus contribute to an accommodation's rating), you must have booked through one of these agencies and then stayed there... So no ballot-stuffing here. You'll get many, many comments. Booking.com offers more hotels and more accommodations; Venere.com, which is based in Rome, tends to also offer smaller, more family-run options. I regularly book through either. I'd read the reviews and they should help make your difficult decision easier – Good Luck!

When are you going, and are you open to an apartment? If so, try VRBO.com, or PM me for a recommendation.

Thank you Ron - finally a clear way to find out which hotels are in which neighborhood. I don't care how many times I look, I couldn't find anything this concise. Thanks. Now all I need is a map that shows where Trevi, Parthenon and Piazza Navona are - I can't find a map which shows all of the "hot spots". Street names don't do me much good since I don't know where the key sites are. Thanks again - I'll begin looking for a hotel now!

Mary,
Go to maps.Google.com and search for Piazza Navona Rome. Then zoom in and out until you get the degree of detail you need on the area. Rick Steves' guidebook also has good neighborhood maps with the key sites included that can help. I find it helpful to buy a big, detailed map during planning. Most bookstores will have a good map of Rome.

You can buy maps of Rome at the bookstore. I got mine at Barnes and Noble a few years ago but they still sell them. They are very good but most won't "highlight" the sites. They are listed like on any other map but they are not enlarged with red flags on them or anything like that. I find these maps are the best kind because they give you all the streets you can use instead of just the major streets. It's always fun walking down a smaller street just seeing what's there. You can always find an interesting fountain or carving. Anyway, the maps I like are the pocket pilot maps. I believe you can also order them online. Donna

Campo di Fiori is also just a few minutes walk from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. We have stayed at Hotel Smeraldo which is very close to Campo di Fiori. Nice place, small rooms, great a/c. This past Oct. we rented an apt. a few steps from Piazza Navona. Let me know if you want the info re. this apt. Have also stayed off Via Nazionale at Hotel Italia which was a fine place and close to train station. Prefer Piazza N. and the Campo locations though.

We found apartments in Rome to be cheaper than hotels! I used flipkey.com to find an apartment. We ended up finding one near Colosseo for less than we would have paid for a much smaller hotel room.

We were in Rome last June and stayed in an apartment I found in VRBO.com. It was via de Cappellari, 85 B. It had 2 twin beds and bathroom upstairs, a double bed and sofa sleeper, kitchen and bathroom downstairs. It also had a washer and dryer (although it was broken when we were there). It was very clean and Luigi was very helpful prior to our arrival (even helped get transportation from the airport). It was right on Campo de Fiori which was a great place in the morning to get fresh fruit, coffee and pastries. At night there are many restuarants right around the square. Piazza Navona is no more than 5 or 10 minute walk. The apartment was only 200 euros--a great deal. Have a great trip.
