Need help with proposal! (Marriage)

Hello all!

I will traveling to Italy very soon in March with my girlfriend. I am looking to make the trip extra special and contemplating proposing during the trip! We will be visiting Venice, Florence, Rome, and Tuscany countryside.

I am looking for a private (not public at all) place to proposal with a beautiful view. I am open to the destination but initial leaning is Tuscany. I absolutely love the photoshoots in estate-like places for proposals so something like that would be terrific, but having a tough time on zeroing in on one. Open to anywhere other than Tuscany as well as long as the view is amazing for photos!

If anyone knows of anything that may fit the bill or can help organize please let me know. Thank you all! This forum has been an amazing resource in the planning of our trip.

The Giardino degli Aranci at the Aventino in Rome is the most popular place in Rome.
In Florence that place would be Piazzale Michelangelo.
Venice anywhere on the Grand Canal but San Giorgio Maggiore would be my choice or maybe Santa Maria della Salute.
In the Tuscan countryside there are lots of places, but you need a car.

Depends on your budget. If you and your girlfriend are into wine you could consider a private Tuscan cantina and vineyard tour as a ruse to popping the question. There are typically good vistas across vineyards and those classic stone cellars and buildings which could provide good photo options. You might consider lining up a professional photographer if you want this to be flawless.

There might be little private corners of Venice, Florence or Rome that fit the bill and would be private enough which im not aware of, but perhaps this will get others thinking.

Roberto I did think about those places but again just hoping for something intimate and private. Thank you!

Peter, I am definitely thinking something along that route! Timing is making it a little tricky as I have come across a lot of places that do not open up in mid March. Further, I need a vineyard willing to work with me as I definitely would like a professional photographer and I do not think every business would be open to that. Thanks for getting the creative juices flowing! A vineyard with a beautiful estate in the background and a private dinner after sounds like a dream :)

what are your dates to travel, are you flying into venice and back home from rome, a multicity trip?
how many days in each city are you planning? what are your plans to see attraction/activities in each one? there are so many different places/towns to take photos with beautiful views hopefully with what your are hoping for.
we did a tour of the prosecco hills outside of venice with a private tour, taking a train to susegana to meet her, also she took us to family trattoria for lunch. she was raised in the area and we had a great time.
we did a private tour in florence with a certain company. was not happy with tour and won't mention company
tuscany is a big area which you haven't mentioned where. private tours can be great but more expensive, you haven't given what your budget is

you don't have to stay in an airbnb to look and book, llok what's available, may photos shoots, just email them what you want before deciding.
you are traveling during jubilee 2025 (holy week) which will be crowded, busy, expecting 30+ million people during the year. if any attractions you hope to se, you have tickets already, supply and demand make cost do high (not budget) with people reserving months ago. in rome look at withlocals.com:

I don't know the area well enough to recommend a specific location, but maybe Fiesole. Consider Le Lance di Fiesole that I saw on Tripadvisor. It looks like it may be the restaurant that we ate at in 1985 that had a fantastic view but was closed when we were in Florence in 2019.

My (now) son-in-law proposed on the banks of Lake Garda. I assume that it was sufficiently romantic. She said yes, (si).

How about booking a private launch in Venice for a few hours cruising the canals and lagoon. Take champagne and book lunch or dinner at one of the better restaurants on one of the islands.
But remember that the weather can still be iffy anywhere in Italy in March, and certainly not very warm.
Google threw up these people as a possible (no experience/no connection). https://www.withlocals.com/experiences/italy/venice/tours/boat/

I would suggest you pick a city a, hire a photographer, and talk to them about a location and time. A photographer experienced in the area will know places travelers may not, or just may not think of off hand.
