need help with an intenarary

my husband and I are planning our 2nd trip to Italy. We will be childless this time and want to fly into Palermo, Sicily and fly out of Rome. We have 15 days (well 13 if you deduct flight time) and want to visit Palermo, Pompei, Naples, the Amalfi Coast and then end in Rome. I am not sure about taking a train from Palermo to Naples or should we take the ferry from Palermo to the Amalfi Coast and then day trip to Pompei. I have tried to look all this up but have just managed to confuse myself with all the possibilities. I would appreciate any and all input about this trip. Thanks, Michelle

Michelle Have not been to Palermo but taking a look at the map and logistically I would say to go to the Amalfi Coast by train. Look at the web site I use plannerint.b-rail.be. It will help you to see trains and schedules for your trip. Possibly base yourself in Sorrento and from there you can take the train to Pompeii for the day- very easy. Also you can catch a ferry to Positano and the town of Amalfi as well from there. When you are ready you can take the local train again into Naples and catch a fast train to Rome and subsequently to the airport.
Hope this help Enjoy
