Hi, I have daughter studying in Bologna and her sister is going over to meet her in Munich. They will then travel by train from Munich to Bologna. They have 4 days to get from Munich to Bologna. What would be a good stop along the way? Munich for 1-2 nights and then Innsbruck or the Dolomite region? They love good food, art, nature, and hiking, and live music. I am just not familiar with that area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
What time of year?
What time of year?
Fly.
Even though I am a train person.
Train is 8 hours.
Plane is 4. Even with the pain of airport security, the plane makes more sense.
I think the idea is to stop and one or two places along the way.
And the direct trains (3 every day) are 6 1/2 hours, not 8.
They would be traveling in March, and yes the point is for them to have a weekend somewhere together before arriving in Bologna on Monday night.
Thank you!
I think Switzerland is too expensive for students, and Innsbruck is too close to Munich. How about magical Venice? It is possible they might enjoy Salzburg better than Innsbruck.
As noted, month of the year matters.
